The platform does not require a specific brand or model, but check compatibility before buying anything. At least as important as the quality of your sensors is the <strong>placement of your station<\/strong>. Try to follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Temperature:<\/strong> Place the thermometer in an open spot, away from buildings, in a ventilated housing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wind:<\/strong> Choose an open location without major obstacles. Note the height above ground and any nearby buildings or trees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Precipitation:<\/strong> Avoid obstacles in the prevailing wind direction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Humidity:<\/strong> Deviations of 5% or more are normal. In fog above freezing, the value should approach 95\u2013100%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Air pressure:<\/strong> No specific placement requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Migrating an existing WOW station<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The existing connection between your station and WOW will be discontinued during 2026. Stations must be re-registered on the platform of the Belgian RMI. The upload protocol is identical to the former UK Met Office protocol, except for <strong>air pressure measurements<\/strong> (see note below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: register your station on WOW-BE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Create an account at <a href=\"https:\/\/wow.meteo.be\/web\/login\">wow.meteo.be\/web\/login<\/a> and register your station. Your station will appear on the map a few minutes later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;WOW-BE\/NL ready&#8221; station<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A &#8220;WOW-BE\/NL ready&#8221; station has an interface (app or web) that allows a <strong>custom upload<\/strong> and supports one of the following protocols: WOW-UK, Weather Underground or Ecowitt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples: Eurochron EFWS2900 (also sold as Garni 940, Alecto 5500, Ventus W830), Ecowitt stations with an internet connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: register your station<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Create an account at <a href=\"https:\/\/wow.meteo.be\/web\/\">wow.meteo.be\/web\/<\/a>, log in and choose &#8220;Register a station&#8221;. You will receive the station ID and authentication key by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: configure your station<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the app, choose &#8220;<strong>Customized<\/strong>&#8221; as the server (not &#8220;WeatherObservationsWebsite&#8221;). Set the upload interval to <strong>1 minute<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wunderground protocol<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Server:<\/strong> wow.meteo.be<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Path:<\/strong> \/api\/v2\/send?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ID:<\/strong> short station ID from the registration email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Key:<\/strong> your self-chosen authentication key<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Port:<\/strong> 80<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ecowitt protocol<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Server:<\/strong> wow.meteo.be<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Path:<\/strong> \/api\/v2\/send?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Port:<\/strong> 80<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This protocol uses your station&#8217;s MAC address as identification \u2014 no ID or key required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stations without a configurable upload path<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For stations such as the Bresser 8-in-1 (WSLink app): use the Wunderground protocol with server <strong>towowbe.dev<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DIY with the WOW-BE API<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also build your own integration with the API to connect your station.
